David Pastrňák Wins 2024 Zlatá Hokejka: Seventh Victory Brings Him Closer to Record
David Pastrňák, the star forward for the Boston Bruins, has once again claimed the prestigious Zlatá Hokejka award for 2024, successfully defending his title from the previous year. Pastrňák’s latest win marks his seventh Zlatá Hokejka victory, bringing him closer to the legendary Jaromír Jágr, who holds the record with twelve titles. Pastrňák also won the award in 2017, 2021, and 2023, solidifying his status as the most productive Czech player in this year’s NHL season.
The race for second place was fiercely contested between two other standout players from the recent World Championship in the Czech Republic. Anaheim Ducks goaltender Lukáš Dostál secured second place with 516 points, narrowly edging out Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Nečas, who finished just six points behind.

Pastrňák’s extraordinary NHL season saw him amass 110 points, with 47 goals and 63 assists in 82 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he added another four goals and four assists over thirteen games. After the Bruins were eliminated from the Stanley Cup, Pastrňák returned to Prague, where he played a crucial role in helping the Czech national team clinch their first World Championship gold in fourteen years, scoring the winning goal in the final match against Switzerland.
The 2024 Zlatá Hokejka top 10 featured a diverse group of players, including six forwards, two defensemen, and two goaltenders. The majority hailed from the NHL, with one representative each from the Czech Extraliga and the Swiss top league. In the survey’s third round, 62 coaches, Czech Hockey representatives, and hockey-focused journalists cast their votes, with 47 placing Pastrňák in the top spot and ten favoring Lukáš Dostál. In total, 60 Czech players received at least one vote in this 56th edition of the survey.
First held in 1969, the Zlatá Hokejka survey is organized by Czech Hockey, with votes cast by experts from its sports section, national team and top league coaches, and hockey journalists.
